With longer days, leisurely strolls, and post-theatre discussions over a glass of something cold and sweet, June is the perfect introduction to summer. It's also the perfect time to take a break from the park and head over to the theatre! Here are the shows that are warming up Chicago this June!

Six

James M. Nederlander Theatre, Jun 4 - Jul 14, 2024

Move over Hamilton, there's a new soundtrack in town and it's JUST as infectious! Henry VIII's six wives are stepping out from the big man's shadow to take their turn in the spotlight in this epically good new musical! Created by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, SIX is a celebration of girl power - from the 16th Century to today - and debuted on the West End in 2018 to fantastic reviews. With an infectious songbook and costumes to make Gaga or Queen Bey jealous, this outstanding show pushes the boundaries of musical theatre!

Sweeney Todd

Woodstock Opera House, Jun 21 - 30, 2024

The worst pies in London are on the menu as Theatre 121 presents Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's retelling of the Demon Barber of Fleet Steet this summer at the Woodstock Opera House. A haunting and gothic spectacle, Sweeney Todd will transport you to 19th-century London for an unforgettable evening - just make sure you don't fancy a shave!

Jersey Boys

Mercury Theater, Until Jul 28, 2024

Jersey Boys is the smash-hit jukebox musical that gives us the true, sometimes gritty, and always spectacularly entertaining story of falsetto idol Franki Valli and The Four Seasons. The blue-collar boys in the shiny Lurex suits strode onto the scene in 1965, wowing the public for 20 years with hits such as "Big Girls Don't Cry","Oh What a Night", and "Walk Like a Man," "Beggin" and many more. But before fame and fortune, comes a difficult, and sometimes not entirely legal, journey to stardom.

Beehive the 60s Musical

Marriott Theatre, Jun 19 - Aug 11, 2024

Celebrating the female greats of the 1960s; Janis Joplin, the Supremes, and Tina Turner. Beehive the 60's Musical takes audiences through a journey during a changing America. With hits like 'Natural Woman,' 'It's My Party' and 'Where The Boys Are,' this musical is full of sparkle and fun while communicating a good message.

The Choir of Man

Apollo Theater Mainstage, Until Jul 14, 2024

From the creative team behind the Soweto Gospel Choir, The Magnets and North By Northwest comes a brand new choral experience that'll fill your soul with soaring harmonies and plenty of feel good moments! Set in a working pub, Choir Of Man brings together the sonorous, deep timbres of nine burly lads for winning arrangements of a broad spectrum of pub tunes, folk classics, Broadway hits, and classic rock and pop anthems, from the likes of David Bowie, Tim Minchin, Father John Misty and more!

Guys and Dolls

Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace, Until Jun 9, 2024

It's time to roll those dice and beat the dice as the beloved musical takes a bow! A screwball romantic comedy, Guys and Dolls takes us into the heart of 1920s New York, as imagined by Damon Runyon and scored by Frank Loesser and includes toe-tapping musical theatre classics including 'Sit Down, You're Rockin' The Boat' and 'Luck Be a Lady'.

The Kite Runner

CIBC Theatre, Jun 11 - 23, 2024

Khaled Hosseini's beloved, international best-seller novel 'The Kite Runner' is finally joining Broadway and touring the US after its successful West End run. Critically acclaimed for its haunting portrayal of a war-torn friendship that spans multiple countries and cultures, The Kite Runner follows one man's journey, allowing him to confront his past

Drunk Shakespeare

The Lion Theatre, Open Run

Take a journey to a mysterious hidden venue where mayhem awaits! Enter through a secret door and discover a glam cocktail bar and library where the infamous Drunk Shakespeare Society are ready to perform! But the main event really begins when one actor takes to the stage after at least five shots of whiskey and attempts to perform an entire play by William Shakespeare. No two shows are the same, four sober actors must try and keep the script going whilst one actor tackles the script through blurred vision and slurred words.
